Areas of Specialty: Kalysha enjoys working with individuals of all age groups to offer support with various presenting issues …Whether your sort-term counselling goal is to gain coping skills to alleviate symptoms associated with anxiety or depression, develop healthier relationship communication/boundaries, move through grief and loss, build self-esteem and self-compassion, or if you are just feeling overwhelmed and are unsure of what you need and where to start, Kalysha can work with you to restore a sense of clarity, safety, and strength.
Kalysha holds a certificate in Financial Social Work, which is an area of Social Work that focuses on working with individuals and couples to explore and address their unconscious feelings, thoughts and attitudes towards money …This may encompass understanding YOUR-relationship with money and how this came to be through the ‘money messages’ you grew up with and reflecting upon your current behaviours and beliefs around spending, saving, and/or budgeting. If this is an area you would like to explore, she will incorporate evidence-based practices and interventions from Financial Therapy that offer a space for expanding how you think, feel, behave, and communicate about money.
For some individuals and couples, embarking on this financial therapeutic journey can be a challenging and emotional one; however, you will be supported in reaching a place where you feel more empowered and conscious of the money-decisions you make, learn coping strategies to alleviate financial anxiety and stress, and improve YOUR-relationship with money, and thereby your overall well-being.
Personal Philosophy: Kalysha uses an eclectic and person-centered approach which enables her to draw from various modalities and interventions that are tailored to clients’ goals and/or their individual preferences. She tends to draw on therapeutic interventions from the following: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (Emotion Regulation skills, Distress Tolerance skills, Interpersonal Effectiveness skills and Mindfulness skills), Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as therapeutic “Tapping”), Internal Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Therapy. Kalysha works from an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed approach, by which she strives to ensure a safe and supportive environment is made for all clients
